Five Bullet Friday [November 6, 2015]

The impetus of this blog post is taken from Tim Ferriss (author of The Four Hour Workweek) who publishes his 5-Bullet Friday posts as well. Here’s a list of five things I’m enjoying, doing, or pondering.

Ponderizing: Malachi 4:5–6
At the most recent General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Brother Devin Durrant, gave a talk titled, “My Heart Pondereth Them Continually” in which he counseled listeners to save a small amount of money each week and #ponderize a scripture verse. This week I chose this verse in Malachi and posted a meme on Instagram.

Reading: Aberration
I came across Aberration after an encounter with a PR professional, Danielle Simmons, at Ancestry. We were working together on a joint press release. Upon checking out her Twitter account, I found out she was wrote this book. It is about a woman who awakens 2 months after surviving an accident that killed 3 of her best friends. It will keep you on the edge of your seat. I haven’t finished it yet, but so far, I’m loving it. Aberration is Simmons’ debut novel and was a semi-finalist in the 2012 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award contest.

Watching: Empire
Empire on Fox is my #guiltypleasure TV show. I love hip-hop music and Terrence Howard. This past week’s episode, A High Hope for Low Heaven, actually had a twist I hadn’t expecting with a #GutterLife rapper spitting a rhyme that included a bible verse.

Listening: Robert Glasper
My homegirl, Paulette Payne, posted on Instagram a picture about this Neo-Soul/Jazz artist. Ever since her post, I’ve had his album Black Radio, Volume 2 [Deluxe Edition], on heavy rotation. Give my favorite track featuring Common a listen to get in a mellow mood.

Eating: Homemade Organic Green Alkalizer Juice
I started a healthy lifestyle program called #FH5 at work. This is a long time coming!!! My darling wife, a.k.a., The Natural Momma, has been trying to get me to choose healthy meal options for years. She recently bought a Jack LaLane Power Juicer from Walmart. Since then, we’ve been experimenting with juice recipes and this one is an early favorite. You can read more about her quest to have a more alkaline diet here.
