Knowledge is key. That’s why we pay thousands for higher education on the hopes that having more information than the “average person” will give us an advantage for a good career or put us in a better position to succeed. Even then though, our successes depends on our individual motivations, desires, and abilities. So, growth throughout life is paramount to success.
With the obvious above statement that we must learn and grow to get anywhere in life past us, on to the main topic. Most people live their lives as if their life will go on and on without any effort put into their own bodies. Ignorance breeds ignorance. Years and years of research and thousands and thousands of hours of studying have all agreed on very fundamental issues to growth and learning ability and (fun fact) they all point to things that most people hate to do. Spoiler alert, your not gonna like what they are.

- Stop looking at computers and TVs and iPhones or anything else with a screen! I realize that statement might collapse on itself since that is exactly what I am writing this on and what you are reading this on. However, BALANCE is the point. Research has proven that excessive viewing of digital devices hampers our brain’s ability to develop and grow. “But I like it.” Not a good excuse. But, your right. Your brain does like it. Mostly, because it gets to relax and doesn’t have to do much but just process images and sounds. And therein lies the problem. “Practice makes perfect” is an old statement but it is completely true. Everything about us is made better with repetition and practice and that especially includes our brain. Daily thought workouts will help tremendously. A great help is the app called “Lumosity”. It is individualized and changes based on your growth or lack thereof. So, get up and get started with your brain workout…after your done reading this, that is.

- Eat better you junkie! Did you know that what you eat directly affects how you feel and how your body functions? Of course you did. You know everything. Except how to implement it. So, here is some tips. Change simple things first. It may not be exactly “simple” but they are things that are simpler or easier. The first thing you should change is what you are drinking. Stop drinking processed things! No soda of any kind, no sweet tea, nothing processed at all. The best thing to drink is water, and lots of it. Water is a cleanser and refresher of everything in your body (makes sense since we are made up of around 65% of it!). Next, stop eating processed, fast and easy foods! No twinkies! No Drive-thrus! If they can cook it in under 5 minutes or if it’s packaged with plastic around it, it’s probably not that good for you (and the exceptions are raw foods). Take the time for your body! Your body reacts to the foods and liquids you put in it. Bad foods and liquids put strain on your organs and make it difficult to function properly and they mess with the hormones and chemicals that are released from your organs. So, go fruit yourself!

- Get off your big butt and exercise for once in your life! Did you know your body rewards you when you actually do workout? “No it doesn’t I get nothing but sore muscles.” Um, yes it does. Your body releases chemicals that make you feel relaxed and stimulate your brain. Not only does the process of exercising, like jogging and working out, stimulate your organs (which, again, release hormones to stimulate you :) ) it also stimulates your brain to be able to focus better and think much clearer than before. A lot of successful people have the habit and routine of getting up every morning for a jog or workout session. Some people can just jump right into it, but if you need to start small, make mini goals like exercising 3-4 times a week for 30 minutes. Then, work up to 5-6 times a week for an hour or so to effectively “tire” the body to help it get in shape. So, one foot in front of the other and move them buns!
Did you like them? Most people will say that they don’t necessarily have a problem with any of the points brought out. But, actions speak louder than words and if you truly want to change your life, you change your mind and body. Effort breeds results and positivity breeds forth good things. “You reap what you sow.”
