Stop Trying to Sound Smart When You’re Writing

Do you wonder why people don’t show interest in your posts? Do you wonder why people don’t share your articles at their social media accounts? And do you feel confused when there nobody leave a comment on your post?

No doubt, you are a good writer, since you are assiduously working hard for mastering the art of writing. Still there is something that you are overlooking.

The main reason that your blog is not getting a lot of loyal readers is that your your work is less appealing and more showing off.

In order to be a great writer, you just need following things to consider when you are writing.

  • Clarity
  • Purpose
  • Action

Instead of trying to look smart, try to clarify your opinion as much as possible. This calls for avoiding jargon, complicated and unnecessary words. For checking if your writing needs more clarity, re-read your article and see if there is some easy words available for any hard word. The point is to keep mind that I don’t have to look like I am smart. I just have to convey my message as clearly as possible.

One way of writing clearly is to write in active voice and avoid passive voice as much as possible. Here is all about how to get good at using active voice and hate passive voice. Once you have known well about the benefits of active voice, your writing will not only improve but your audience will love you too. When you use active voice, people can really feel your presence from their monitor screens. Because you use active words and instead of saying, by me, you say I did. Active voice is life, passive voice is death.

The second thing that must be kept in mind, is purpose. Think about what you want to achieve from your article. Do you want your audience to feel in a specific way. Are you making them learn something. Keeping an eye on clarity and purpose will help you remain focused and keeping all the extra things that deviate your audience remain out. You have to get connected with your audience and it is only possible when you kill distractions between you and them.

The third thing which you should look for more than looking smart is to make your audience take action that you want them to.Do you want them to subscribe for your newsletter or just simply posting a comment on your post. Whatever your purpose of writing is, make it clear to your readers.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?
