I guess I must be one of those mean creeps. I think it’s great that people are learning to program and posting their experiences and views on Medium and if I’ve done anything to put the original poster off doing that than I am genuinely sorry.

I suppose what I wanted to say that I’ve been coding professionally for over 25 years and for all that time people have been talking about the end of coding. The idea of end users writing their own code is brilliant, but the truth is that writing code is really hard. Sure there are specific types of software that are really easy to write but the general problem is complex because life is complex.

I’d say to any beginner programmer, stay a beginner. I’m still a beginner after 25 years — I still haven’t cracked it. The problems will always humble you and that’s not a bad thing.
