Awesome! Cloud Announced as Playable DLC Character for Final Fantasy VII Remake

Square Enix announced in a press release today that Cloud Strife, possibly the series’ most iconic character, will be available as DLC for the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Remake.

In an interview with Famitsu.com, Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda had this to say:

“After the response to Cloud in [Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U], we began to see the benefits of DLC. It really connected the long time fans with the series and characters they love. As such, we made the decision to make Cloud Strife, one of our most popular characters, available from day one to download for the Final Fantasy VII Remake.”

News travels fast, and long time fans of the series are already excited. From the Final Fantasy subreddit, user PM_YOUR_FF_HENTAI stated:

“before we knew about the remake, we begged and pleaded for square enix to make this game. i even saw a lot of folks say that they would pay over a hundred dollars for this game. it’s great to see that with the anouncement[sic] of the cloud dlc and the game being split up into several parts, square enix is finally listening to the fans.”

Though there are still some further details to be announced, we do have some information regarding the available SKUs of Cloud Strife. Translated from the Japanese on the Famitsu website, it appears that there will be several versions of Cloud available to download.
