New Zealand Laws That Are Different From U.S. Laws

This is going to be a really quick post for 3 reasons. One: I’m emotionally drained from yesterday. Two: I have limited Wi-Fi. And Three: I’ve only experienced two laws that are different from those in the U.S. here. However, keep in mind that doesn’t mean that other laws aren’t different between New Zealand and the U.S. that just simply means I’ve experienced two laws that didn’t really affect me in any way, they just kind of jumped out at me as I experienced them. This is going to be a lot like ‘Crime Stoppers’ except we’re just gonna let it happen. Let’s get started!

So, number one: it’s okay to have birds fly into restaurants. This was mind blowing to me, because in America, you’re not even allowed to bring your dog into a restaurant. These are wild animals flying in through open doors and windows, landing right next to you, and being like, “What up, bro? I’m a bird.” and you just look at your buddy and say, “Dude, a bird!” and nobody cares. I wish I had some confetti to throw at that, because I think that’s just amazing!

The other thing that I noticed I only just experienced yesterday. I was taking a bus to Dunedin from Christchurch (which, BTW, longer than I thought) and the bus went over railroad tracks without stopping first. In the U.S. all buses have to come to a complete stop before crossing railroad tracks, even if there isn’t anything coming. As far as I know, that could be the same case over here, and the bus driver was just like, “LOL, I’m not stopping. Let’s take risks.” And we all survived (sorry to disappoint).
So there you go guys, two laws that are different in New Zealand than they are in the U.S. I would just like to point out that I don’t think New Zealand’s laws are better or worse than U.S. laws. They’re just different, and that’s okay, because what works for New Zealand, works for New Zealand, and vice versa for the U.S.
You can stop reading now, or continue if you’d like.
I would just like to say that if I have any mistakes in any of my blog posts, it’s okay to point them out to me. I will fix them asap. If you were offended by any of my blog posts, I’m truly sorry. My blog is to help educate people on New Zealand as I see it as a U.S. citizen, and maybe even make you laugh a little. If you are offended, please let me know as to what offends you and we can talk it out, because more than likely what offended you was simply a misunderstanding. Like I said, I am not here to offend people. All I ask from you is that when you talk to me about it, you act like a civilized adult instead of just attacking me with your assumptions (or at the very least, be funny).
So in any case, if you are going off to New Zealand, or have a buddy who is, or just like to learn about other (or your own) country like this, share this, or don’t (or do). And wherever you are, whatever time it is, I hope you have a good morning, good night, good afternoon, or whatever time it is you’re reading this. Positive thoughts and lots of love, and whatever else Barney the purple dinosaur probably said before drugs.
