I’m writing from Bristol in the U.K. . Religion died in Europe after the Second World War when people became exhausted by the imaginary divisions of nationalism and religion and the wars these cause. About 2% of the U.K. population attend church and a majority of British people believe religion causes more harm than good.
America took a different path after WWII, as political leaders encouraged religion as a bastion against communism. America now finds itself in a difficult conflict between secular morality and religious morality.
