ts’áak

“Countless sunsets back in time,”

an elder softly spoke,

“before t!he coming of mankind,

before this world awoke.

before the first men made their way,

out from a clam shell into day,

isles existed in the sea,

with beaches stretching endlessly,

where cedars great approached the sky,

and ts’áak soared the breezes high,

o’er sacred home,

o’er Haida Gwaii.
