Great article. As part of writing a plan I also like to encourage the businesses I work with to add some visual elements to their plan by creating a descriptive vision of what their business will look like when it’s successful. As goals are typically set around measurable targets like ‘Gain x% market share’ or ‘add x number of staff in five years’ , i’ve found it’s useful to write an imaginative description of what the day to day operations of a business will look like if they achieve that goal. Eg describing the office space they will be in if they do achieve the goal of adding x number of staff. It’s the business plan equivalent of creating a product mock-up or artist’s rendering.
