great article, one point i could not fill with loaders is progress updates.

Correct. Unlike an AsyncTask where you have a separate method/callback for progress updates, Loaders only have the one built in: deliverResults() to onLoadFinished(). Of course, that doesn’t mean you have to wait until you have all the results before calling deliverResults() — you could certainly call deliverResults() throughout your loading process as items are parsed/ready (just make sure your UI is ready for that case and the results are stable on the screen — no one wants the just loaded items to move out from underneath them!).
