If you want your data to be instantly available through configuration changes (which you do), then you probably want to use Loaders. If it wasn’t clear from the original post: Loaders don’t care where your data is coming from. Retrofit requests work really well inside Loaders and allow you to separate that logic from your Activity/Fragment (so if you change caching strategies, loading mechanisms, etc, that code doesn’t need to change).
