Dayton Tech and Startups Review: 12.21.2015

It may be have been a green Christmas, but it will be a great New Year! There were some pretty cool things happening in the Dayton Region for the week of December 21, 2015. And, of course, there are a lot of great events for start ups coming up at the beginning of next year.

If there is anything that you think I missed, I would love to hear about it! Leave your comments below.

There is a new set of “Wright Brothers” that hail from Dayton, Ohio. Their names are Beck and Barry Besecker and the service they are working to see take flight is Virtual and Augmented Reality in the form of their company, Marxent.

One of the first things Mile Two LLC noticed after starting their business was the amount of time that they spend on conference calls. Hush puts your phone mic on mute until you hold down the large and intuitive to use “talk” button. When you release the button you are back on mute.

Marxent is a finalist for IBS Awards. The company will be vying for the title of the best of the best kitchen products at the 2016 NAHB International Builders’ Show in January.

Peerless Technologies, based in Fairborn, will get as much as $53.7 million during the next four years to support Air Force Research Laboratory. Fairborn-based Peerless and its subcontractor, UDRI, will support AFRL’s research operations in the Structural Test Facility complex, Wind Tunnel Complex, and Mach 6 Wind Tunnel Complex at Wright Patterson Air Force Base.

Two high-level civilian senior executives and a senior scientist at Wright-Patterson were recognized by President Barack Obama with a Presidential Rank Award this year.

Understanding and responding to customer demand is critical for all participants in the innovation network. This article highlights that the key to commercial product is that the company understood the commercial users need but had a product that the military could use as well.
