How Not to Fuck Up a Perfectly Good Chance to Hire Someone

Jeff, you fucking rock!

Perhaps there’s hope. Perhaps there’s change in the wind. Gregory Mazurek has written some great posts on hiring, most recently Stop White Boarding. The recognition that hiring is badly broken is the first step toward doing a better job.

There’s a lot of whining among people who are doing hiring that they can’t find qualified people. Yet they do their best to drive away good candidates. They discriminate on the basis of gender, background or age. Hiring companies insist on giving timed tests. They ask questions about topics that could easily be looked up.

I also could go on at length on the topic of hiring, but I’ll leave that for another day. But I’m glad that you wrote this post.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?
