Science illiteracy is destroying America.

Television has Eaten the World

I agree that science literacy is critical and empowering. If most people had some amount of science literacy we would not have politicians getting away with denying that human induced climate change exists.

Unfortunately I think that that problem is larger than science literacy. The majority of people don’t read much. Perhaps they read Facebook posts, but a lot of people, especially men, don’t read books. They get their information from television.

If someone’s knowledge comes from television or media, their access to ideas is limited, even in the age of Youtube. I’ve seen our era described as the post-literate era.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
