Week 1 and 2

Back to School Special

Weekly Summary

Two updates in one, and still hardly anything to report! Since week 1 was mostly us running around finalizing our schedules, practically nothing got done. During week 2, I spent most of my time helping get the others set up with Ruby on their respective machines, and making sure their environments were correct. We also gained a new group member — Zach Behnke decided to join us on the last possible day. We’re excited to welcome him to the team!

Next Week

I guess that I should really call this section ‘this week’ considering how late I am publishing the piece. Ah well! This week, we hope to get Zach all caught up with what we’ve accomplished so far. The others will be spending more time with Ruby, while I get back into setting up the initial database. In their free time, they’ll also be researching the API and answering a few questions we have (for instance, is Team 100 the Blue or Purple team?)

I’ll also be spending some time looking at Ghost as an alternative to Medium. Having our own site that our entire organization can post on in the future is pretty enticing. It’d be some legwork setting up a nice responsive design, but I think the long term benefits outweigh the cons. Switching will be a bit of a process though, so I’ll continue to post here in the meantime.

Statistics

There were no changes, due to a lack of coding work done.
