Musings of a Deranged Dealer in Hope

How Today Might be the Day...

Today might be the day..,

That I get a miracle that is so clear, so true,

That I know it’s from the very heart of my maker.

Today might be the day..,

That I forget nothing, lest I myself be forgotten

Today might be the day…,

That I become the brightest person on earth.

So that when the aliens land,

And they say: “Take me to your leader

They’ll be brought right to my doorstep.

Today might be the day…,

That Miley Cyrus,

Ties an anchor around her neck

And jumps off a cliff.

Today might be the day…

That I win that lottery

And I cease to merely exist on the breadline

So that my family and I

Can move to easy street

On MaishaRaha Lane.

Today might be the day…

That the village night runner,

Who chases wailing women at three in the morning,

And disrupts my sleep,

Is finally apprehended.

Today might be the day…

That she speaks to me and I finally tell her,

How beguiling her beauty is.

For i’ve always wanted to use that word to describe a lady

And this lady definitely fits the bill.

Today might be the day…

That we dance ourselves lame

And shout ourselves hoarse.

And like any liquor assisted romance,

The good times will really be GOOD.

Today might be the day…

That I stop being too “polite”

To show that thieving tout

What a stone-cold upper cut in the jaw

Really feels like.

Today might be the day…

That I seriously ponder on the complications

Ever inherent in doing assignments

The very night before they are due.

Today might be the day…

That I write again to the love of my life and she agrees to take me back.

Even though only last week, she wrote back saying:

you have mental problems and should see someone about that.

She is a trained psychiatrist.

Today might be the day…

That I waltz back into campus and get that degree.

For I was disgracefully thrown out.

Stupidity plus immaturity,

And a willingness to show off both qualities,

Is a bad combination.

Today might be the day…

Oh, today might be the day…,

But Alas, today is in the hands of the gods.

When have they ever got anything right?

Ps/ This is a tongue-in-cheek piece that I wrote, just to get a good laugh years later!
