I think the fundamental dichotomy between “modernity” (or whatever you want to call it) and most religious faiths is between a sense of relativism and a sense of absolutism, at least in terms of right and wrong. If religions disappeared, I’m not sure where the world would find itself. Would we lose our concept of absolute right and absolute wrong? And what would the long-term repercussions of that be?
