I am tired of being lied to.

When I turn my TV to some of the mainstream news channels, all I hear about is how great the other party’s candidates are doing and ridiculing the candidate that I want to be President. It’s frustrating that I can’t just put on the news and hear a perspective that isn’t unbiased. If journalists aren’t able to be totally unbiased, then they will lie by manipulating facts (or by just leaving them out) to meet their agenda.

So, when I’m looking at the candidates for President, I’m making a quick evaluation of who they are as a person. When I see some politicians speak, I feel like they’re just pandering to me. But there’s one politician who says it like it is — who leaves off the filter and says what’s on their mind. Sure, it may seem harsh, but at least that’s real. I’ve seen them speak on television for years, so I feel like I’ve grown to trust that they aren’t trying to trick me, and I don’t feel that way with other candidates.

I’m concerned for my job.

After living through the recession, I’ve learned how vulnerable my job is. I’ve seen my parents lose tens of thousands of dollars in their retirement plans, and I don’t want that to happen to me. I want a President who is an excellent business person that can fix the American economy (because I still don’t feel like it’s fixed).

Though I don’t have a blue collar job, my dad does. He tells me these horror stories about how his work keeps losing contracts with clients because someone was able to underbid the job by using poorly paid illegal immigrants for labor. It’s just not right to live in a country where people are able to break the rules to get here and take work away from people who live here.

I want a President who will to deal with illegal immigrants firmly and ensures that there’s a tall barrier between American jobs and illegal immigrants.

I’m concerned for my safety.

It seems that once a month I hear of a shooting at a school or a public place. Every time I go to a mall or a movie theater or even church, I can’t help but wonder what would happen if someone pulled out a gun and started shooting.

After the atrocious acts in Western countries carried out by members of ISIS or by people inspired by them, I’m just in awe that the leaders of major governments haven’t done anything to eradicate that thinking from the face of the Earth. People who are actively trying to kill other people are pure evil, and it doesn’t seem like anyone in the government is taking bold actions to fix the problem.

I want a President who is going to stand up to evil in the world and destroy it — and that’s what my candidate has vowed to do.

I want to feel proud of my country.

I’ve heard stories about veterans who were in World War II about how they volunteered to serve before they were legally old enough. They signed up because of their pride in American, and they served proudly.

Sadly, when I was in high school and heard that one of my friends was enlisting in the Army, someone would always ask why you’d throw your life away like that. To me, it seems like people just don’t have the pride in their country anymore.

I want a President who is going to inspire this great country and make it great again.

Though the opinions above are not mine, the headings are all concerns that I do have when picking a presidential candidate that represents my own perspective.

I’m tired of being lied to.
I’m concerned for my job.
I’m concerned for my safety.
I want to feel proud of my country.

In a time when so many people seem to be ridiculing people on the other side of the political fence, it’s time to recognize that we’re actually on the same side — we just have different ideas on how to feel better about our leaders, our physical and financial security, and our great nation.

So, instead of getting angry at those who refuse to vote for the candidate you’re backing, maybe recognize that you share the same concerns and fears.

After all, come November 9, our concerns and fears aren’t just going to go away, because they’re basic human problems that we’ve dealt with for thousands of years.
