Explaining the Ethereum Namespace Auction

I’ve had a very bad experience with ENS. What seems great in theory has a terrible UX. I bid on a few domains and then had a couple weeks of vacation with limited connectivity where my Mist node couldn’t fully sync and I was thus unable to reveal my bids. Upon returning the chain took nearly a day to sync, by which point the reveal phases had expired. Then ENS tells me only 0.1% of my bid could be returned! I’ve lost hundreds of dollars just because the chain couldn’t sync in time! I understand wanting to disincentivize name trolling but only returning 0.1% is ridiculous! Can anyone help me with this? #ENS #Ethereum
