Crisis Management Monday: Justin Bieber

Can the Pop Star get it together before his brand sinks?

Pop sensation Justin Bieber as we all know is in a world of trouble. From egging a neighbor’s house to police raiding his home, to a DUI, and now assault charge in his home country of Canada. And to make matters worse, there was a petition that was signed by over 10,000 people which as a result it is said the white house now as to take heed to this to decide whether to deport the pop star. People have literally protested that the pop sensation is a “danger to society” Could he have been saved? Could crisis management help the troubled pop star? The answers my friends is YES!!!!

When the police raided his house for the egg incident and arrested his friend Lil Za with cocaine, right then Justin’s team should have informed him that he needs to make a statement or someone from his team. Illegal drugs in the house and now your best friend is being arrested for it. The public can make an assumption that the drugs were Justin’s. and the lack of statement from Justin proves them correct. Perception from the public is everything!!!!!!! As soon as the arrest and raid happen, Justin’s teams should have quickly reacted saying “We are cooperating diligently with the police during the investigation. I want to thank my fans for staying with me and supporting me through this time. ” Simple and plain. Yet the silent treatment only makes matters worst. Meanwhile your best friend is now facing 2 felony charges. It’s obvious that Justin’s money can buy him out of a case like this yet his brand DROPS DRASTICALLY!!

When Justin was arrested for a DUI a couple weeks back, the same situation. Mug shots were everywhere yet no statement from Justin or his team. A DUI is dangerous. Plenty of families have lost loved ones to that, yet he smiles in his mug shot. A soon as he was released from jail he should have placed a video out apologizing for his actions. Also he should donate money to a fund that raises money against drinking and driving. Justin teams is handling this horribly.

Justin’s team has to understand that keeping Justin quiet and not making statements based off of any legalities he can face, is wrong. The public’s perception is what needs to be kept intact. They are who make him who he is. He needs to cater and show he is not as spoiled pop star who can get away with anything but yet a responsible man. Even if he is going crazy doing wild things as a 21 year old does with his kind of fame an success, he must still address the problems when the occur. His team is to defensive. Maybe in football and basketball defense wins games but in Crisis management offensive wins games. The pop star is now being petitioned to get deported to Canada. A pop star a danger to society? Really? Were the Beatles a danger to society? We know they had drug issues. Was Jimmy Hendrik who was a drug addict or Ray Charles were they labeled dangers to society? NO they weren’t. Yet their public persona was much more intact than Justin’s. . The public’s perception means EVERYTHING!!!! His team has failed at managing Justin Bieber pop star crisis.
