Record Players vs. Spotify

Record Players were invented in 1877 and Spotify launched in 2008. While both of these technologies are used to play music, they are very different, and demonstrate the ways that the web has evolved music and the way we listen to it. Prior to the web, we had to purchase records to play, which was limited to a few songs. These records were rather expensive and also limited, so there was little variety. With the invention of both the web and Spotify, it’s possible to stream music instantly and for free. This also allows for more variety in music and makes it easier to publish music. The web has truly transformed the world of music.
