Trying grpc-java on Windows (even Korean edition)

After failing in running examples in Python, I switched my strategy to Java, and finally succeeded in “hello world”. Here are findings from the course.

Surprisingly, the example code in Java has

double φ1 = toRadians(lat1);

The name of the variable above is φ1, which is not in MS949 (Korean) code page. So I had to change the code page:

chcp 65001

Unfortunately, it is not sufficient. In order for javac to compile the code, you need to set

set DEFAULT_JVM_OPTS=”-Dfile.encoding=UTF-8"

in gradew.bat.

One more thing: don’t try master branch and stick to releases. For me, 1.0.0-pre2 worked well.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
