8 things l learned from Gary Vee

1. Content is Key
From wine videos to writing books and a strong social media presence, Gary is constantly putting out new content. Most of all, it’s something he really enjoys doing. Something I learned from him is that putting out consistent at 85% quality is way better than trying to put perfect content once in a while. That’s how he established such an image and is content king!

2. Hustle, Hustle, Hustle..but be patient
Something common among entrepreneurs is the constant want for things to be quick and fast and at the moment. Entrepreneurs are hustlers, yet Gary taught me that patience is key. Not everything comes at once, good things take time. The important thing is for you to keep hustling and hustling but be patient because good results take time, success doesn’t come over night.
As Gary says, “keep calm and hustle on”

3. Self Awareness
Something I noticed that Gary puts a lot of emphasis on is self-awareness. You need to get a better picture of who you are, what your values are, what you stand for and believe in, and what you are good at. It’s important to have these things clear in order for you to put your strengths to good use and keep the image of who you are and what you stand for clear at all times. It’s also important to have a good idea of who you are so you can communicate that image to others (especially across social media). Gary is a great influencer, and I think part of that is because he communicates himself well to others and is very authentic about it. He has is values and personality very clear so that is what he shows the rest of the world.

4. Speed
It’s better to come out with something that’s not perfect than to wait for a long time to make it perfect. So often we try to be so perfectionists that we waste time just putting things out there. Gary says that even in fast paced environments, like social media, speed beats perfection because the time will never be just right, the perfect time is now! Stop talking, start doing.

5. 24 hours
Everyone has the same amount of time in their day. 24 hours. Gary is a very inspiring person and he is involved in so many things and gives his all to everything. He made me realize that we all have the same amount of time, it’s just up to us to see how we use it. It’s not that we don’t have time to do things, it’s that we chose to not make time for things. We alone have control over every second of our lives, it’s up to us to chose how to allocate time. Whether it’s going to the gym instead of watching Netflix, reading a good book instead of going on social media mindlessly. It’s all up to us.

“Stop crying and just keep hustling. Hustle is the most important word ever. I wake up at 6 a.m. Literally. Every day. For me, every minute counts, so my schedule is planned down to the second.” -Gary Vee

6. Passion
You’ve got to love what you do. Gary knows the true power of passion and it shines in everything he does. From wine vlogs to keynotes, to books and his #AskGaryVee show. His passion becomes contagious to his viewers and followers, and that’s why he has been able to have such a large crowd who loves him. I learned that it’s important to not be afraid to let your passion radiate.

7. Be available
Something incredible that social media has done is make people accessible to the world. Gary was able to see this as an opportunity and he does an incredible job and being available to the public. Whether it’s through live twitter chats or Facebook live. He interacts with his audiences by replying to comments, mentions on Twitter and emails. He often asks the “Is there anything I can do for you?” question and actually pulled through with it. Just a reply to a Tweet can mean so much to someone!

8. Dream big and trust your gut
Gary is an immigrant and moved to the US when he was three. I am also an immigrant and moved to the US when I was three. Gary has proved to me that you can do anything you set your mind to and that your ideas (no matter how crazy they seem..like starting a wine vlog) can become really successful and change the world around us. He is an example of someone who followed his passion which led him off the well-worn path and after perseverance, hustling, and trusting his gut, he found what he loves to do and is able to inspire others to do the same.

These are just a few lessons I’ve learned from the inspirational and motivational Gary Vee. He has such great insight on all things from building up your blog, increasing website traffic, to crushing your goals.
