Here are five ways to get prepared, but did you know there are 5 other ways to get yourself into Cambridge University?

1) Apply early: The earlier you apply, the more time you will have to increase your chances of getting in.

2) Select your course: Determine which courses are available and which are best for you.

3) Have a good personal statement: This should be about why you want to study at Cambridge and what makes you different from other applicants. It should be about 500 words long and include some of your accomplishments or achievements in school or outside of school.

4) Get references: You will need two references who can speak positively about your academic abilities and potential—they must not be relatives or teachers from your current school. Ask them before submitting the application form if they would be happy to act as a reference for you.

5) Get predicted grades: If possible, ask teachers

Cambridge University is one of the oldest and most prestigious schools in the world. With a history dating back to 1209, it is steeped in tradition and yet always looking to the future. The university was granted a Royal Charter by King Henry III in 1231, and Cambridge has grown into one of the world’s leading universities, with international excellence across all disciplines.

Right, we’ve done some research and found 10 other ways that could help you get accepted at Cambridge University.

Did you know that Cambridge University offers programmes that help find applicants from different places? These programme aim to provide equal access to education. We’ve found a few that we’ll love to share with any young students considering attending Cambridge University.

1) neaco

The University of Cambridge serves as the project’s lead partner, and it collaborates with Anglia Ruskin University, the University of East Anglia, Norwich University of the Arts, and the University of Suffolk, as well as FE Colleges, secondary schools, and other third-sector organisations. neaco works in areas of East Anglia where participation in higher education is lower than would be expected based on GCSE results.

2) Insight Discover

Insight Discover is a school-based programme, and Insight Discover students must attend one of the participating schools we work with across Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and West Norfolk. Schools are responsible for selecting students to join the programme, based on a number of criteria.

Students will visit the University of Cambridge during the programme and work on three projects before graduating at the end of Year 8. In Years 7 and 8, students participate in an e-mentoring programme in which undergraduate students from the University of Cambridge assist participants in completing a project over a four-week period. Each project culminates in a project showcase, where students can present and share their work with others.

3) Insight Explore

Insight Explore is an academic programme for students in grades 9 through 11. The programme’s goal is to help students improve their academic skills and support them in their schoolwork. Through a series of interactive workshops, students will gain study skills that will help them with their GCSEs and beyond.

Participants will come to Cambridge several times a year as part of the programme to attend a combination of compulsory and optional events designed to help students develop skills and understanding of university life and future options.

4) Sutton Trust Summer Schools

The programme aims to provide you with the full Cambridge student experience (including academic teaching and social life), as well as information and advice to help you with the application process.

The five-day summer schools in July and August allow candidates to pursue their interests in one of 26 areas while also getting a taste of what it’s like to live and study as a first-year undergraduate student at Cambridge.

5) STEM SMART

STEM SMART (Subject Mastery and Attainment Raising Tuition) is a University of Cambridge programme, in collaboration with Isaac Physics, to give free, supplemental education and support to UK (non-fee-paying) students who:

> having faced educational disadvantage or are a member of a group that is statistically less likely to pursue higher education and
