HR professionals are considered as some dangerous creatures but when Amal Fellowship gave us a chance to visit any HR manager, we ( Asma Uzair, Ansar Nawaz, Muhammad Asad, Nokhiaz, Ahmad and Ibtehaj Riaz ) came to know that it's not like that it's just their job requirement not to be frank and look . We met Mr. Qaisar Khaleel HR Assistant Manager at Continental Industries Pvt Limited, lahore. It was great learning experience and we asked some questions and got very clear and satisfied answers which would really help us when we go for interview.

Q1 How important do you think is it to be yourself in an interview?

It is very important indeed to be yourself in the interview. If you are faking it, it's not going to give you any benefit but harm. Portraying yourself the way you are not in real, can cause big trouble as they might hire you and give the responsibility that you can not fulfil and the result would be, you would be suspended or even some companies terminate these people and include them in Blacklist, which is not a very good thing for any person. So avoid it as much as you can, just for the sake to get job you might indulge in a great trouble. Being you is always appreciated, portray your real self with dignified and confident manner even if you don't know something, it's fine, nobody knows everything.

Q2 How do you identified that a candidate is real or faking it?

For experienced HR managers who are in this field more than two decades can find it very easily. But, what mostly HR manager do in this case they ask questions and then demand logical explanation and justification by which they realize how much a candidate is being himself. Every person can stumble here but the ones who are faking becomes blank and start beating around the bush.

Q3 If a candidate has very good academic record and nice project works but he is shy, and the other one who is very average in his education but very bold and confident, whom would you hire and why?

Well it depends on the job description (JD), what kind of person we need. If we need people for research and file auditing, we might hire the shy one Might. Because people argue sometime we don't give chances to shy people to come out of their shell, we do but only when we see he has potential and he can grow. If he was crammer and have just good marks we avoid hiring these people. Good grades are important if you want to pursue in academics. Bold and Confident people always make their way nicely under these situations.Be confident, bold but respectful during interviews.

Q4 What if we don't know the answer of some questions, is it alright?

Yes it is. If you don't know answer of a questions very politely say sorry, don’t go for unnecessary explanation. Candidate need to understand that they are judged on the questions for which they have given answer not on the unanswered questions. Confidently give answer to the questions you know that is it. It is not a sin if you don’t know something.

Q5 What suggestions you may have on how to be fully prepared/ equipped for an interview?

It is very important to be fully prepared and equipped for an interview because world is very competitive now, the moment you do something wrong, other would take your place. My suggestions would be, try to have as much knowledge of a company as you can, its products, services, branches, higher authority and culture of that organization. Everything is now on internet go find it, don't leave any stone unturned it's your chance to show how capable you are. Prepare your short introduction which is asked in interviews.Wear formal clothes and be confident. Give relevant answer and be precise. Candidate should avoid too much frankness with interviewer, it is not professional. And last thing prepare for Questions related to your field for which you have applied when recruiter ask ‘ if you have any questions you can ask’ don’t take it easily, its last impression which stays in the mind of recruiter same as first impression.
