WazirX hacker still holds 150 tokens that have not been further transferred
On July 18, 2024, the Indian exchange WazirX was hacked, with the hacker gaining control of the multi-signature wallet and transferring over $235 million worth of virtual currencies.
The hacker initiated the attack through the address 0x6eedf92fb92dd68a270c3205e96dccc527728066, moving assets from the exchange’s hot wallet at address 0x27fd43babfbe83a81d14665b1a6fb8030a60c9b4 to the hacker’s address at 0x04b21735e93fa3f8df70e2da89e6922616891a88. Subsequently, the hacker converted different virtual currencies to ETH on decentralized exchanges using the addresses 0x90ca792206ed7ee9bc9da0d0df981fc5619f91fd and 0x35febc10112302e0d69f35f42cce85816f8745ca, and transferred them to address 0x361384e2761150170d349924a28d965f0dd3f092.
According to statistics from search.ichainfo.com, there are 200 types of virtual currencies involved in this attack. As of July 19th, 50 of them have been gradually transferred by the hacker and exchanged for ETH on decentralized exchanges.
