The most attractive quality about using the term “LMO” is that unlike GMO it does not have the negative connotations associated with it, and promises objective discourse in discussing modified organisms humans interact with. It’s also interesting to think about whether GMO can be a term that will be reclaimed and re-embraced, as similarly powerful words have recently achieved for themselves, for example the pop capitalism of feminism.
