Morning coffee interruptus
Our morning coffee shop is moving. Not closing down. Just moving. Time to find another.
Our latest morning coffee shop agreed with us for the following reasons:
- service was efficient
- service was friendly enough for us
- on the way from the bus stop to work
- coffee always hot (we have ditched otherwise good coffee shops because of less-than-hot coffee)
- always plenty of sugar and cream
- enough regular clientele loafing around the counter to provide amusing conversation backdrop while waiting
Before moving on though, we were curious to see how the place fared on Yelp — and as is usual with Yelp, reviews are either 5-stars or 1-star. The coffee is either the best you’ll find any place or disgusting. The baristas are either rockstars or clueless idiots — and either super-friendly or rude. For what it’s worth, in eighteen months of regular morning attendance, we never had bad service or bad coffee. On the rare occasions we witnessed rudeness from behind the counter, we felt that the customer deserved it. Besides, the barista who usually dished it up was the one we guessed to be the owner — so that’s his judgement call.
It is quite hilarious when angry customers in small businesses demand the name of a counter person so that they can complain to the owner — not realizing that they actually are talking to the owner!
We can never be bothered to complain. When a coffee shop no longer suits us, for whatever reason, we just move on to new pastures — easily done in Seattle.
