IT’S SOFT LAUNCH TIME!!!

Dear Theians,

After almost two years in the making, we are very proud to announce that today marks the official start of Icons of Theia’s SOFT LAUNCH! 🥳🥳🥳

This means that from now on, all progress you earn in the game — Icons, Levels, Rewards — will be permanent, and will stay with you FOREVER as you continue your adventures in Theia.

The game is now available for EVERYONE — on both Android and iOS. You can download and start playing right away!

And for this first Soft Launch patch, we of course have a LOT of changes and new features. In fact, this is our biggest patch ever!

We have a new progression system, a revamped leveling experience, new consumable items — and that is only on the progression side.

In the gameplay part, we completely revamped basic attacks, which are now called “Basic Ability”, unique to each Icon. That means 14 new Basic Abilities, on top of the now-called Ultimate Ability, adding a whole new strategical layer to the game, unseen before.

Finally, for the very first time, you can buy new Icons through our Summoning system — and you will be also receiving free Summons every day!

If this cannot make you excited, I don’t know what will! With no further delay, here it is, the official patch notes for the very first Soft Launch update!

What’s New

New Icon Attacks

Icon individuality is something we have always cared about when it came to telling their stories and or how they fought in battle. Because of this, all Icon basic attacks or “Attacks” are now completely unique to that Icon’s kit and playstyle.

Some Icons may share similarities in how far they can attack, etc., but each still has a unique twist that makes them special. So be sure to go out and try your favorite characters to see what new strategies you can create!

Uncover the Past

As we bring in summoning new Icons with the Cartomante, we must also bring in a feature that can empower players who get duplicates in their roles. For this, we introduce a new progression system known as Legacy! The Legacy system is a linear progression system that allows the player to empower their Icon with each duplicate they receive of the same one.

The Legacy system is separated into 7 levels, and to unlock a level, you must have that Icon’s Memory. These Memories will automatically be obtained when you get a duplicate of that Icon. Each Icon’s journey in the Legacy is different, and as you unlock more Memories of an Icon, so too will their power grow.

Book Smart

With this new Legacy progression system introduced, we have also updated other systems that still deserve to shine in the spotlight. One of these systems would be our leveling system, and we have updated how it works to make it more intriguing and active for players.

The leveling system has now turned into a player-focused system, meaning instead of Icons gaining XP and leveling up on their own, players can now be the ones to choose who gets to level up by managing resources and items. While Icons can still gain some XP after games, Tomes will now be the main tool for leveling up, giving a lot of experience on use but being limited to obtain. Leveling up Icons will now also cost Silver for each level-up, so be sure to spend wisely!

Adjustments and Updates

General

  • Chests can now drop the new XP items: Tomes.
  • Tomes now have a chance of dropping after games.
  • Summoning Percentages have now been changed to where not every Icon has an equal amount of being rolled. Some will be more rare than others.
  • Summons can now be purchasable with real money.
  • Added an option to skip the summoning animation.
  • The “Icons” page has had an overhaul with a new look to it as well as a new way to see stats!
  • Chests now have new animations and SFX to them.
  • Changed the naming conventions of Abilities to Ultimates.

Gameplay

  • The detail panel has now been updated to coincide with the new Basic Attacks, so it is easier to see descriptions of it and Ultimates.

Icons

  • All Icon stats have been changed to be more durable to coincide with the new Basic Attacks and Legacy system.

Tutorial

  • The tutorial has had some small tweaks to it in order to make progression through it flow better and make it more understandable overall.

Bug Fixes

General

  • Fixed a bug where if you hit the lore button on the Icons page too many times, it disappears.
  • Fixed a bug where getting silver in a chest didn’t update the currency counter at the top of the screen.
  • Fixed a bug where, in the chest nudge, you may have no chest to open.
  • Fixed a bug where getting a shard in a chest played the silver gained animation.
  • Fixed a bug where getting a shard in a chest didn’t update the currency counter at the top of the screen.
  • Fixed a bug where the Profile page showed the player’s username in only lowercase.
  • Fixed a bug that made it unable to swipe off the Summon page.
  • Fixed a bug that caused flipping a card on the Summon page to lag.

Gameplay

  • Fixed a bug where Akila’s Osiris Blast VFX rotation was off, making it show up in unintended places.
  • Fixed a bug where victory stars wouldn’t appear in certain scenarios.
  • Fixed a bug where the timer would be disabled in normal games.

Tutorial

  • Fixed a bug where Akila’s face was cut off in her textbox art.
