Kara — I am delighted to hear people like you suggesting that LPs take a more active role in preventing predatory investing. Your suggestions, in fact, have much broader implications, as they all point toward ensuring that investments are going to more diverse teams, which I agree is a fantastic and much needed idea.
One additional thing I’d like to see, whether it’s VC firms or a news channel like Fox: instate company-wide policies that being terminated for sexual harassment is equivalent to being terminated for cause, which means that severance packages or any other termination benefits are lost. LPs could require such clauses to be included in the GP agreements.
Let’s make it extremely painful for individuals to misbehave by creating tangible deterrents that hits them where it hurts most.
