So, what’s the fuss all about?

LF INTERNSHIP 2019 FLIER

First off, the LearnFactory Internship is the baddest software training program in the South; we hone you to cutting-edge perfection; 6 months of intense coding, collaboration and camaraderie. You will find nothing else like it.

Secondly, it is FREE. Yes, you read that right: FREE. All you need is mad love for coding, a passion to solve a problem, willingness to relocate to Aba (Abia state) and 6-months full-time commitment.

We promised the LearnFactory Internship 2019 will be different. To whet your appetite, feast your eyes on all the amazing technology the curriculum will cover:

Yes, from Web and Mobile Development with React and React Native, Desktop Development with Electron, Server-side Development with Node and MongoDB, Cloud computing with AWS/GCP/Azure, DevoOps with Docker and Kubernetes and introducing Machine Learning with Tensorflow.js and Blockchain apps with Ethereum and Solidity.

The first cohort runs from April 1 to October 1; with a class size between 25 and 50 people.

Our targeted end-result for this year is “to birth 10 products/startup companies product and services which will have a direct impact on our society and the nation at large”. To make this successful, LearnFactory provides technical training via the Internship to help applicants build their product, project management, a mentor to supervise the project, a UI/UX specialist for design/branding and workspace to build your product.

With this in mind, we will take in 2 groups of people:

  • Companies: the expected results are simple — learn the skill to build your product. The conditions is that at least 2 people must be part of the company; In exchange, your team will commit 6 months full-time to the project, must have a registered limited company and in exchange for it’s rendered services, LearnFactory Nigeria will be taking an equity stake in the company. Taking a stake in the company shows LearnFactory’s commitment and belief in your product and vision; as your success or failure automatically becomes our success or failure.
  • Individuals: LearnFactory Nigeria already has 4 products/services, and will allocate individual interns to them based on interests. Such interns will become shareholders in the startup they are assigned to; this should drive their commitment and loyalty to the project.

FAQ

  1. What is the cost for the internship?

It is completely TUITION FREE. However, in the absence of a finalized sponsorship agreement, interns are expected to cater for their feeding and accommodation (we will arrange for shared accommodation for those coming from outside Aba). However, if sponsorship is finalized, we will provide feeding and accommodation for students.

2. Are beginners allowed?

Absolutely NOT. This is a program to sharpen those who have already shown interest by starting self-study. To get in, an applicant must be versed in HTML5, CSS3 and core JavaScript. Also a good knowledge of Linux, Git and Github is advised. See the courses below to upgrade your skills and apply

3. What is the structure for the internship?

Lectures run from 9 am - 5 pm, Monday to Saturday. Coding/tech lectures will run Monday to Thursday; the first half of Friday will focus on Lean Startup and Entrepreneurship lessons while the later part of Friday and Saturday are focused on product development, market survey and research etc.

4. Is there an option for remote participation in the Internship?

Currently, NO. But we are in discussions with a tech partner to offer Remote Internships in tertiary institutions (delivered via LF ICE Clubs) or for those who cannot afford to come down to Aba for 6 months. We will keep you updated about the progress of this.

I hope you are as excited as I am. As we prepare and countdown, make sure you are checking off all the prerequisites to ensure you scale through.
