I Moved to Linux and It’s Even Better Than I Expected
Dan Gillmor

I have been using Linux exclusively for the past 4 years. I had to switch to Windows in the first few days to do stuff that was slightly hard on Linux, but over time I have tweaked and twisted and bent the Ubuntu machine that I use to my will, and I haven’t logged into Windows in a long long time, close to half a year.

If only people were willing to do some work, for the sake of the freedom, Linux would have a larger userbase. But I don’t really blame people who want things to “just work”. It is hard to say that you don’t love the fact that a Macbook just works, when you switch it on for the first time. Everything’s on there, and everything’s great. But it’s in the long run, that you realize how much software on it you never use, and is just sitting there.
