Guido Guidi is an Italian photographer born in the countryside of Cesena, Italy. He grew up fascinated with architecture and later went on to be trained at IUAV University as a draftsman before learning industrial design in Venice. It was here in 1956 that Guidi began to take an interest in photography with the corroded colors and the weathered architecture of Venice.

Over the course of 40 years, Guidi has focused on a range of subject matters, from the industrial transition of landscapes to the moon, but what remains constant is in how he captures the moment. In many ways, the photographs are representing what is there; it is not a fabrication in time, but a momentary decision. With his photos, Guidi finds kinship with the in-between, where areas of his hometown are undergoing the process of industrialization and abandonment. In these spaces, traces of humanity, such as the presence of himself in the landscape, reveal a cultural and historical layering of what the space once was.
