You asked for it, we listened: Dream now supports Vive and is available for free on Steam.

It’s been just over a month since we launched, and we’ve been getting a lot of exciting ideas from people who have been looking for better solutions to communicate and collaborate with their remote teams, some of which have outfitted their entire teams with Rifts to use Dream! However, the most common piece of feedback we received from users was that they want to be able to connect to users on Vive — people invest a lot into their rigs, so we understand why this is important and have made it a top priority.

This now means that you can be on a Rift and connect to the rest of your team if they’re on Vive. Dream is now interoperable between these headsets, and all functionality is equivalent. We will always strive to ensure that no user experience is limited based on the headset they use, given it meets a set of minimum capabilities — such as the Vive or Rift.

We hope that the addition of Vive compatibility will make it easier for users to connect with one another. Also, we’ve made a lot of great improvements to Dream over the past few weeks and have updated the Oculus version as well. New users will now find a terrific walk through to better explain how to use Dream, and we’ve added various bug fixes and performance improvements.

We’ve received a lot of other great feedback as well (thanks and keep it coming!) and are working on some exciting new things we’ll be announcing through the end of the year.
