I. Feel. You. Especially relevant to women in startups. In Mobile 1.0, I was working night and day. Pay was fair, but my on-demand life creating contracts was pretty exhausting and based on what I saw happening, my gut said my options weren’t worth it. I discovered a big pay difference of the engineers in tech sales who reported to me (as director of new business integration). Took me 30 seconds and 30 paces to show up to ask the VP of sales to remedy this. Every contract crossed my desk (at all hours). I owned the accountability, I wanted to be compensated. HR choked on the pay increase and i really pissed off a lot of people. Plus ca change, plus c’est la meme chose.
