Printastic App
As an artist, I can tell you that printing and shipping your art all over the world is a tedious and expensive process. I was thinking how can I eliminate shipping from the process and came up with an app that connects all print shops and print artists and enables them to print directly in the city where their order came from.
For example, if an artist from NY has an order for one of his prints from a person who lives in Stockholm, he would usually need to order print (from his print shop in NY or via online print on demand service) and then ship it (from NY to STO, or have it drop shipped by the online print on demand service) to Stockholm. By using PRINTASTIC, the artist prints his print directly in Stockholm and doesn’t have to deal with shipping costs and customs. Also, he saves not only money, but time as well.
Once the print is in Stockholm, it gets either picked up at the local store or delivered via local mail or Uber service.
And how does an artist know the print service is good enough for him? It’s the same as with the AirBNB, the rating system tells one what’s best for him. Or her.
My idea had evolved over a period time, at first I was just thinking how to do a simple print-on-demand app. While interacting with people on Coursera and while doing the need finding, I’ve discovered there is more that can be done with this simple idea. Here are some photos from the development process of the app:
