But It’s Not That Way…

I truly don’t think you grok that this is actually a real and pressing debate, because you see it everywhere as “The Trolley Problem” or other ethical issues that pretend to be of importance but really are not, and IMMEDIATELY 99.99% of you dismiss it and move on…

BUT IT’S NOT THAT WAY. It’s actually of huge and REALLY enormous importance, and you are assuming it’s silly when it’s not so. It’s a matter of degree — it’s LITERALLY the very real possibility that the human race will be snuffed out because of lethal autonomous weapons systems getting extremely good extremely fast and wiping out our race — and you are not interested?

Do you see the difference? — how can I explain it to you so you do get the point and really worry, because you see that it’s not like 99.99% of fake ethical debates that you needn’t be concerned about? Well of course I have to get you interested in the first place, which is a minor problem… :-) Okay, a major problem. It’s the only one — and I’m failing. You really cannot see the forest, always looking for the trees and never realizing the forest is actually there in the first place.

I am extremely interested in AI, especially the not-so-good side of AI weapons and AI war, although the good parts are magnificent and wonderful too, naturally.
