I Hope You Really Get That In Time.

One of the reasons I’m afraid of the dystopian properties of AI and AGI is that quantum computers are in the mix (although that’s not the only one, and I still would be afraid without it), and in a very few years — now just five years or less before they are incredibly, almost unbelievably better than ordinary classical computers — and the prospects for AI are frightening to say the least. Of course they will also be incredible discoveries which will rock your world, like immortality, but the downside is equally great, especially in the military AI arms race. I urge you to really, deeply think about this like never before, not just breezily say “whatever will be, will be” — because it’s likely to actually come true quite soon.

It’s actually quite funny that I am in the position of saying this when I previously did NOT believe this at all, but I have to say that AI has changed my thinking completely. Still it’s quite hilarious, and I have to say ironic — which is why I can totally understand your thinking, because I did too at one time — I never took anything TOO seriously. I hope you also understand that AI is REALLY different, in an absolutely fundamental way. I hope you really get that in time.

I am extremely interested in AI, especially the not-so-good side of AI weapons and AI war, although the good parts are magnificent and wonderful too, naturally.
