It’s All Or Nothing.

I disagree with Tom Simonite intensely about LAWS Banning, but unless we’re able to rise above the monstrous challenge of implementing it in true force, as a departure from the normal UN practice of legislating it and ignoring it afterwards, then Tom Simonite will prove prescient indeed. We have to be willing to really implement it in ironclad language, including, for example, a new world order that overcomes the differences in national policy. We have to be willing to think new and terrifying things, gigantic things, or else we will lose and face true extinction as a homo sapience race. I don’t think we can do this — but if that’s what Elon Musk really believes, then he has to be willing to go the whole hog. It’s all or nothing — and I hope that a LAWS Ban will be in place. And yes, I know, Don Walker, how much I hated NWO, but this is far, far greater, the biggest thing in 3–1/2 billion years, and I think justifies that policy.

I am extremely interested in AI, especially the not-so-good side of AI weapons and AI war, although the good parts are magnificent and wonderful too, naturally.
