Hyperledger Logo

I’m glad to announce that I’ve joined the leadership of Hyperledger Nigeria as Community Lead.

Hyperledger is an open-source community focused on developing a suite of stable frameworks, tools and libraries for enterprise-grade blockchain deployments. Hyperledger helps build communities by empowering people who share a common interest in developing blockchain-related software with the networks and tools to do so. It is hosted by The Linux Foundation, and receives inputs from global leaders in finance, banking, IoT, supply chain, manufacturing and technology such as Intel, IBM, Accenture, PwC and Oracle. You can find more information at https://www.hyperledger.org/.

Open Source Collaboration at Hyperledger

The full suite of Blockchain projects on offer by Hyperledger includes distributed ledger frameworks, smart contract engines, client libraries, graphical interfaces, utility libraries and sample applications, of which my personal favourite is Sawtooth, a distributed ledger framework that delivers a “Customizable Supply Chain Blockchain Solution” out of the box. And if you’re curious as to why, then ask me in the comments.

Hyperledger Momentum

Working with David Boswell and Uchenna Ogbonna, my first task is to reboot the “Hyperledger Lagos Meetups” program, and in that light, I’d like to make the following announcements:

  1. Our meetups will now hold once a month, starting immediately (this month, April 2020). A specific date will be communicated shortly.
  2. A core focus of this new “reboot” is local capacity development. Developing local Blockchain talent is top of mind for my team and you will see this reflected in the theme and structure of upcoming meetups.
  3. The primary venue of the meet-ups will be online (i.e. webinars). As in #1 above, specific details will be communicated shortly.
  4. Once every quarter, we will hold a physical meetup where people can see one another “up close and personal”, and possibly network/interact on a higher level. It’s still a bit early to say, but discussions are also ongoing to host a (“mixer”-style) annual end-of-year gathering to further facilitate cross-pollination of ideas and the forging of strategic business relationships in the local Blockchain space. Of course, it’s important to note that this is not yet cast in stone and the specifics of how this component plays out will be greatly influenced by the prevalent state of affairs after life must have returned to normalcy after Covid-19.
  5. Finally, I’m also happy to announce that we have secured the support of strategic partners in the local technology ecosystem such as The Co-Creation Hub. Others will be announced later as we close out discussions with them.
Hyperledger — A Few Ways To Participate

Please keep an ear out for announcements in the coming weeks and months. I will be announcing more additions to the team, as well as making requests of the local technology and academic communities. Together, I believe that we can build local capacity and place Nigeria on the blockchain technical-talent map. Perhaps even steal the title of "Blockchain Talent Capital of the World" from the USA? But we can’t do it alone, so we’re asking for your support.

Let’s do this!

Thank you. Hope to see you soon.
