Study in Canada

Deciding on a suitable study abroad destination is a tough choice to make, but what’s comes after is even more challenging- the application process. There are too many uncertainties in this phase; how to begin, which universities to apply in, what course to pursue etc. If you’ve chosen to study in Canada, you’ve already taken the right step, what comes next is your application process, read the easier steps that we’ve mapped out and you will easily be guided on to how to apply for Canada!

Step 1- Find an institution and a course
The most initial step is to decide what you’d like to study and where. If you’ve already made this choice fair enough but, if you just want to study in Canada for the location Canada, then you’ll have to be more precise. You can take your pick from the top Canadian institutions and begin your search from the best universities and colleges in Canada. But before you select where to study, you have to be sure about what to study when in Canada.
Choosing a course is the most essential decision as your entire career is based on it and as an international student, it will be even more difficult for you to continue your education overseas if you’re not sure about the subject. Research about the syllabus, the course pattern, whether research opportunity is available or not etc. Post selecting the right course, start with your university/institution hunt.

Step 2- Gather your finances
Before taking any further steps, you have to be certain that you can manage the expenses for your education and stay in Canada. It’s really important that you must have all your financial proofs- during the time of your visa application, you’ll be asked to submit these documents as proof that you have enough money to afford your education. Although the cost of studying in Canada is not as much as other destinations, however, it is always preferred to have your finances in place.

Step 3- The Application
Canada education system provides you with world-class education facilities, but to study in Canada, you need to be sure that you are eligible for it. The application process begins from determining your eligibility (which you can check either on the particular university website or ask your education counsellor).

Documents Requirement
Make sure you have all the required documents as per your degree/education programme.

For international students it is also mandatory to have language proficiency in English (in some regions French) depending on the university you’re applying to. You need to attain a minimum score in these proficiency tests to be eligible for an offer from the university/institution.

Application Process
The application process may vary as per various provinces, but in general, the prime intake for admissions is the fall (September) intake when most students apply for. Apart from that, students can also apply in January for the winter session intake. You can either apply directly from the university website or for a well-defined process can reach out to a dedicated overseas education counsellor as well.

Step 4- Study Permit
Once you’ve received the acceptance letter from a Canadian institution, you have to apply for the study permit. The study permit is the Canadian student visa without which you cannot visit the country. For obtaining a study permit, you must have the following documents-

• Acceptance letter from the university
• Character Certificate
• Passport
• Identity proof
• Proof of financial support
• Letter of explanation
• Health Certificate
