You can find excellent analytic advice about negotiating. Some of my favorites are here and here. I think personality is critical in all aspects of life, and I’ll share my examples of negotiating with personality. For my Amazon job:

Remind your boss that you care about your salary, and you expect a good offer. Your boss, if clever will change the subject.

Don’t let your boss off the hook. Remind her of your value, drive it home. If your lucky, your boss will acknowledge your contributions, and good things will follow.
