In keeping up with its mission of instilling the desire to learn, lead, and serve others among its members, the UP Industrial Engineering Club (UP IE Club) continues to work with various communities through its various initiatives amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

IEAid, the IE Club’s flagship consulting program wherein Industrial Engineering tools are applied to improve processes in partner organizations, has provided consulting services to the Office of the Vice President, the Philippine Red Cross, and Dashboard PH, among other organizations within the past two years.

IE Club also provided material support through Good Karma, by selling merchandise to help the UP College of Engineering’s maintenance and security staff, and through Tulong Eskwela, by providing 124 students of Culiat High School with school supplies and support in its reading program through donation drives, events, and projects spearheaded by the organization’s Externals Committee.

It has also modified its college admissions preparation project, the UP College Admission Mastery Program or UPCAMP, by pivoting to the dissemination of admissions updates, scholarship and financial aid opportunities, and college admission tips. This was done after the university had forgone testing as part of its admission requirements due to the pandemic.

“Since the beginning of the pandemic, ExeComm [the Executive Committee] really focused a lot on ‘essential’ projects within the org… It’s important to focus on projects that are essential to keep the org alive and still passionate about what they [its members] do — this is to keep the balance and not burn out members because we ask for too much,” notes Samantha Uygongco, IE Club President for Academic Year 2021–2022.
