As a data analysis enthusiast, I recently completed the Tata Data Visualisation: Empowering Business with Effective Insights Virtual Internship on Forage. This was an amazing opportunity to learn and apply my skills in a practical setting. In this post, I would like to share my experience and the steps I took to build a data dashboard using Tata Data Visualisation.

Gathering Business Requirements from Stakeholders

The first step in any data analysis project is to identify the business problem and gather requirements from stakeholders. In this case, we were tasked with creating a data dashboard to provide insights that would help inform strategic expansion decisions for a fictional company. I worked closely with the stakeholders to understand their needs and identify the key metrics that would drive their decision-making process.

Pre-processing the Dataset

Once the requirements were clear, I proceeded to pre-process the dataset. This involved cleaning, transforming and preparing the data for analysis. I used Power Query to perform this task, which involved removing duplicates, handling missing values and ensuring consistency across the data.

Creating Data Visualisation with Business Intelligence Requirement

The next step was to create the data visualisations with the business intelligence requirements in mind. I used Microsoft PowerBI to create the interactive dashboard, which included charts, graphs and tables that displayed key metrics such as revenue, customer statistics, and products. The dashboard provided a visual representation of the data and enabled stakeholders to quickly identify trends, and patterns.

Interacting with the Dashboard

The dashboard is hosted on a project management tool called NovyPro and can be accessed through this link: Dashboard. The dashboard is interactive and allows stakeholders to filter the data based on different parameters such as region, product, and customer type. This enables them to drill down into the data and gain deeper insights into the business.

Full Project on GitHub

The entire project is available on my GitHub repository: Repository. The repository contains the pbix file, dataset, and a description of the project.

In conclusion, the Tata Data Visualisation virtual internship was an excellent opportunity for me to apply my data analysis skills in a practical setting. I learned a lot about gathering business requirements, pre-processing data, and creating effective data visualisations. I encourage anyone interested in data analysis to participate in such virtual internships and apply their skills to real-world problems.
