I think you’re simplifying the articles you’ve been reading — at least it looks like a simplification from what I’ve read lately about the “full-stack” label.
What most of the arguments boil down to is that the term “full-stack” is pretty loaded. What stack are you talking about? MEAN, LAMP…? What level of knowledge/skill are you at each level of the stack?
Its also used frequently by fresh bootcamp grads. They took some courses on the MEAN stack and now they put “Full-stack Web Developer” on their LinkedIn and expect the interviews to flood in.
There’s nothing wrong with the term itself, but it doesn’t provide enough information, hence the frustration. Maybe the term is on its way out and its time to refresh the way you brand yourself?
