So What Now, OpenAI? Life Beyond Sam

An Unexpected but Crucial Event

Sam Altman, the founder of OpenAI and the man who turned this company into a $90 billion behemoth, was cut loose by OpenAI’s board of directors.

Upon the news, Greg Brockman, President of that same company, resigned. Today, many other top management people are leaving too.

Edit: Finally, both Sam and Greg have returned to OpenAI. Please bear this in mind while reading the rest of the article, which might not be of interest to you no more.

That being said, I still reflect on what makes OpenAI really great, and how its future is anyways linked to Sam’s endeavors (and will continue to be after the announcement.

Fascinatingly, it has been confirmed that Microsoft, the biggest backer of OpenAI, didn’t know a thing.

Naturally, considering how poorly written and ‘substance-lacking’ OpenAI’s report on the matter was, there have been a lot of unanswered questions, leaving plenty of room for media and X users to wildly speculate about the matter.

But nobody knows the real reason and I’m not going to pretend I do.
