As you already know, OpenAI finally launched a new model over a year after GPT-4. It’s still a GPT-4 variant, but with previously unseen multimodal capabilities.
Fascinatingly, it includes powerful features like real-time video processing, a key feature that could finally allow the creation of powerful virtual assistants that support our daily life in real time. However, such feature should be expensive and slow, which doesn’t add up considering the model is blazingly fast and free to use.
What is going on then?
OpenAI must have realized something that we aren’t aware of yet, in that intelligent design decisions we are discussing today can create much smarter models for a fraction of the price.
