Content Marketing Brain Cramps Be Gone!

Are you pulling your hair out trying to dream up content marketing ideas for a blog post, eBook, video or infographic?

Answering questions your prospects or clients ask on your website leads to many great things. It helps you be the thought leader in your industry. It helps your prospects educate themselves, and in turn can help reduce the time it takes to close a sale.

Not sure where to begin? Are you in a fog, or new to your industry? Stop panicking my friend. I have a great resource for you!

All you have to do is… Ask The Seeker.

Answer The Public Is The Answer You Seek

Recently I was turned on to this new website called Answer The Public, and boy was I glad I was. Since finding this gem of a site, I have been playing around with it daily to come up with content ideas, and see if certain topics are being talked about online.

A Quick Background

Answer the Public is a platform that was built to get consumer insights for PR companies in the age of Google and Bing.

You have probably used Google to see auto suggest ideas before, and you know that can be a painfully tedious task if you have a lot of topics to research. #AmIRight?

There Is A Better Way

This new online tool is awesome because after you enter in your keyword or keyword phrase, it spits out all sorts of questions people ask the search engines, saving you tons of time and frustration.

These questions are in the form of:

  • who
  • what
  • why
  • when
  • and where

You also get preposition results:

  • like
  • with
  • versus
  • near
  • and without

Let’s take this tool for a test drive, shall we?

Since I come from the fireplace industry (15+ years removed), let’s assume I want to research some blog topic ideas around the keyword “gas fireplace”.

All I have to do is enter the keyword, select the US from the dropdown and then ask the seeker to get my results.

A few seconds later the results begin to appear.

Here is the visualization of 80 questions people ask as it relates to the keyword phrase “gas fireplace”.

How cool is that!

Let’s take a look at just a few of these questions:

  • What is a ventless fireplace?
  • Why gas fireplaces won’t light?
  • Are gas fireplaces efficient?
  • Which is better, gas fireplaces or electric?

I mean, come on! All of these 80 questions are being asked on Google and Bing, and should be answered on a fireplace retailers website… like yesterday!

Here are a few of the prepositions:

  • Gas fireplace with TV above
  • Gas fireplace without chimney
  • Gas fireplace inserts vs pellet stoves
  • Gas fireplace smells like rotten eggs

Here are a few columns of the 123 prepositions in their data view.

Honestly, after reviewing this info, I am all jazzed up about fireplaces again. While it has been over 15 years since I left that industry, these content ideas have me going down memory lane and giving me a “what if” moment.

Anyway, this site is a killer resource, and you should bookmark it right now. Answer The Public will help you generate more content marketing ideas than you can shake a stick at.

Now go, answer the public and create remarkable educational content!

Until next time,

Doc

PS: If you work for a fireplace retailer or manufacturer. we should talk! =)
