From GIF to Coub

GIFs are cool. Short repeated snippets with insane meme potential. There’s an obvious limitation though: no sound.

It’s incredibly easy to add sound to GIFs though. Once the GIF is no smaller than 300x100px (at either rotation), all you have to do is grab the link and upload it to the Coub interface, like you do with a video. Alternatively, you can upload saved GIFs from your computer. And then comes the fun part.

A great 8-bit Fight Club GIF becomes even better with the addition of some 8-bit Pixies.

And an anime GIF is made even more kinetic with the right choice of music:

Or check out how this amazing glitched Pulp Fiction GIF gets synced with a track from the film’s OST.

If that’s not “artistic” enough for you, you only have to look at the work of Milos (“Sholim”) Rajkovic,Uno Moralez or James Kerr to see what extremely talented people can accomplish with short loops. Sholim and Moralez already have their own featured channels on Coub, where they’ve been developing their videos and GIFs into fully fledged works of art.

Log off? Not when platforms like Coub are making it easier and easier to create such beautiful things online.
