What is doppio coffee?

Doppio coffee is a type of espresso that was created to be strong and intense. It has become increasingly popular among coffee connoisseurs looking for a bold flavor profile in their morning cup of joe. The term “doppio” simply means double, referring to the double shot of espresso used to make it.

This beverage is made by pulling two shots of espresso into a single cup. The result is a rich, full-bodied espresso with notes of caramel and chocolate. Though people blend different flavors with a doppio, traditionally, the coffee would be served black as is.

Doppio coffee has gained popularity beyond its traditional Italian roots, thanks to its intense flavor and caffeine content.

Why is it called doppio coffee?

The term doppio means double in Italian and refers to the two shots of espresso used to make it. If you want an even stronger shot, some cafes offer a triple or quadruple doppio (known as a “trippino” or a “quadruppino”).

Doppio coffee is usually enjoyed on its own, but it can be combined with milk to make a cappuccino or latte. If you like your coffee extra strong, doppio is the way to go.

What is a doppio espresso?

A type of espresso that is made with two shots of espresso instead of one. This results in a much stronger, more intense flavor than regular espresso. It has notes of caramel and chocolate and is usually enjoyed on its own or combined with milk to make cappuccinos and lattes. Doppio espressos are also higher in caffeine and provide a more intense boost of energy.
